Dubai Sports Council will soon begin construction on two eco-friendly football stadiums in the emirate. These include the new Shabab Al Ahli – Dubai Club stadium at Al Ruwayyah 3 and the new Al Wasl Club stadium at Al Jaddaf. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, and President of Shabab Al Ahli – Dubai Club, has approved the architectural designs for these stadiums.
FEATURES OF THE STADIUMS
The stadiums can hold more than 20,000 spectators each. The Shabab Al-Ahli Stadium features a modern circular roof. Columns symbolising unity and balance support this roof. It also includes eco-friendly systems and meets smart city standards. Then, the Al Wasl Club Stadium adopts an innovative 'city within a city' design. It integrates open spaces that highlight Dubai's urban identity.
FOCUS ON SUSTAINABILITY
Dubai Sports Council expresses that stadium designs must include sustainability and smart city features. This shows a forward-thinking approach to stadium architecture. It also highlights Dubai's dedication to improving its sports sector. The emphasis on these principles is essential for the city's sporting infrastructure.
VISION FOR THE FUTURE
Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Council Chairman, emphasizes the project's role in boosting Dubai's sports achievements. He aims to strengthen Dubai's position as a global sports hub. The project supports the development strategies of Dubai's top clubs. It also nurtures local talent, aligning with the emirate's future aspirations.
KEY OVERSIGHT AND IMPLEMENTATION
Mattar Al Tayer, the Commissioner-General of Infrastructure, Urban Planning, and Well-Being Pillar, along with Council Vice Chairman, announces the formation of a dedicated team. This team includes officials from various organizations such as the Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Sports Council, Shabab Al Ahli – Dubai Club, and Al Wasl Club. Their main goal is to pick a specialised firm for the stadium project's construction. They aim to ensure quality standards and timely completion.
IMPLICATIONS FOR GROWING SPORTS INVESTMENTS
Dubai's eco-friendly stadium projects are a great example of sustainable sports infrastructure development. But, this isn't limited to the UAE; it's occurring throughout the MENA region. We see this through Saudi Arabia and other neighbouring countries growing their sports leagues. So, investing in sports facilities is an important aspect that supports this.
In particular, Saudi Arabia is investing in football, drawing top talent worldwide. Huge sums of money are attracting these players to the country. With this in mind, developing innovative and sustainable stadiums is crucial, not only in Dubai but also in Saudi Arabia. This investment shows the importance of modern infrastructure in sports development.
DUBAI ADVANCING SPORTING INFRASTRUCTURE
Dubai's innovative approach is inspiring future developments in the Gulf region. Eco-friendly and technologically advanced stadiums are becoming the standard. So, these two new stadiums will advance sports entertainment both in Dubai and the MENA region.
