Jeddah Historic District has launched the restoration of three historic properties into luxury hotels. These hotels, namely House of Jokhdar, Kedwan, and Al Rayess, are in Al Balad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the West Coast of Saudi Arabia.
RESTORATION EFFORTS
These three hotels are part of the Jeddah Historic District program. This initiative aims to revive the old town of Al Balad. Local artisans, carpenters, and architects were hired for the restoration. They used locally sourced materials to maintain the properties' authenticity.
HOUSE OF JOKHDAR: A PEACEFUL RETREAT
House of Jokhdar has nine spacious rooms and suites. These include the Royal Suite and Deluxe Suite. Its design creates a peaceful escape from the busy streets of Al Balad. Guests can also enjoy stunning views of the historic centre from the roof terrace. So, this hotel offers a tranquil retreat with its unique blend of comfort and charm.
AL RAYESS: COMBINING TRADITION AND LUXURY
Al Rayess has six suites and rooms with high ceilings, giving them a grand feel. The boutique hotel combines traditional charm with modern amenities. This creates a perfect blend of old and new. So, here guests can enjoy a comfortable stay while immersing themselves in tradition.
KEDWAN: WHERE HERITAGE MEETS MODERN COMFORT
Beit Kedwan has two guestrooms and several living spaces. This hotel blends traditional Arabian design and modern comfort uniquely. Guests can even rent the entire property for an exclusive experience. The hotel also has a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the Arabian skyline. So, this hotel offers a relaxing experience for all.
CULINARY DELIGHTS AND PERSONALISED HOSPITALITY
Each property provides a set menu for breakfast and lunch at one main restaurant. Here guests can enjoy local cuisine. When guests arrive, they receive a warm welcome with coffee and rose-infused tea too. Guests also get a personalised experience down to the intricate details. These include specific aspects like the chocolates in their airport transfer and the scent of incense in their room, making them feel at home. Additionally, all guests receive complimentary airport transfers upon arrival and departure. These thoughtful gestures enhance the guest experience and ensure a comfortable stay.
For this Saudi hospitality experience room rates start at 2,200 SAR (approximately £463) across all properties, excluding breakfast.
JEDDAH HISTORIC DISTRICT HERITAGE PROPERTIES EXPANSION PLANS
These properties are part of a larger restoration project. Within this project, more heritage properties are set to open in the coming years. By 2027, a total of 34 heritage properties with 165 keys will be available to guests. In doing so, the project plays an important role in preserving the rich heritage of the area.
A STEP BACK IN TIME WITH MODERN LUXURY
Jeddah Historic District has revealed three well-restored heritage hotels combining history with modern luxury. They're part of a bigger effort to bring life back to Al Balad, making Jeddah a desirable destination. With more historic properties coming soon, the future of Jeddah's Historic District looks bright.
